How to pray before meals

We live in a generation where most Christians rush to eat their meals, before giving thanks for it. This attitude of entitlement is a sin and stems from the society we live in; a “society of abundance.” We no longer lack nor are we subject to waiting on the LORD  for a harvest but rather, we harvest everyday with full bellies and yet we have forgotten that our provision is from above.

Let us take the example from our Adonai, the great Rabbi, Yeshua (Jesus Christ). Before Christ broke bread with His disciples He gave thanks. Before HE multiplied the loaves and fishes, He gave thanks. Yeshua, acknowledged that provision is from the Father YHWH ABOVE.

Why should we be any different?  Lets turn to the bible for instruction.

Romans 14:6

He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, does so for the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who eats not, for the Lord he does not eat, and gives thanks to God.

Matthew 14:19

Ordering the people to sit down on the grass, He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food, and breaking the loaves He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds,

Matthew 15:36

and He took the seven loaves and the fish; and giving thanks, He broke them and started giving them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.

Matthew 26:26

While they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”

Matthew 24:30

When he was at the table with them, he took the bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognised Him and he disappeared from their sight.

If you have been eating with out giving thanks turn back to YHWH and REPENT for greed, ungratefulness, ingratitude and entitlement!!!

HERE is a simple example of a prayer on how to bless food before partaking of it.

LORD Jesus, I bless and sanctify this food Holy unto You in Jesus Name.

Let the food be blameless and allow the food to nourish my body.

I thank you LORD for the blessing me with the opportunity to eat

for I know ALL provision is from You ABOVE.
